As many of you know my husband passed away on Sunday. The services will be held on Monday from 3-8pm at Matz Funeral Home 410 East Rand Road in Mount Prospect. I want to thank everyone for their continued support during this difficult time. Jon was a wonderful husband and father and will be missed.

A friend of mine just emailed me this sad news. I used to play chess with Jon for Greater Manchester and for a junior team called Trafford Junior Knights and have fond memories of playing tournaments with and against him for many weekends over the years when we were growing up as children and young men.
Unfortunately my passion for the game dwindled and I lost touch with Jon, which was a real shame as he was one of the nicest, most genuine guys around. He was always very friendly, unassuming and I never once heard him raise is voice or have a bad word to say about anybody.
It goes without saying that I'm terribly saddened to learn of this awful news, but at the same time I'm glad to hear that he followed his dreams and managed to achieve such a high standard competing in the game he loved so much, and I'm sure in doing so he will have touched the lives of many others.
I'd like to extend my sympathies to all of Jon's family, and anybody fortunate enough to have been blessed to have known him.
RIP Jon - one of life's good guys, taken from us far too young.
