I met Ron almost a decade ago when my son Eric first started playing chess and we visited the famous Chess Pavilion. Ron was welcoming, generous with his time and knowledge and even gave Eric a few lessons back in the day. Over the years I would see Ron time and again, usually at a local chess tournament, and he would always flash his trademark smile and ask how Eric's was doing at the chess board. A sweat guy with a generous heart. We will miss him.
