Nice field for this weekend's Scott Silverman Memorial
IM Felecan, FM Chow, and NMs Jayakumar, Weber, and Burgess are among the preregistrants, not to mention the legendary Les Bale. Register now: the field will be capped at 40.
Scott was a class player who really loved the game (he briefly had a chess bookstore in Arlington Heights). He died of a heart attack after upsetting a higher-rated player in one of Sevan's events at the Purple Hotel. He was on his way to meet Les Bale to show him the win.
Scott was not a particularly good player, but he was a particularly good human being!
